Innovation Through Research and Development
Research, Development, and Innovation
At Turrera, innovation isn’t just a capability—it’s a mission. We specialize in delivering rapid, practical R&D solutions tailored to the evolving needs of government and defense agencies. From concept to prototype to field deployment, our work is rooted in deep technical expertise and a commitment to real-world impact.
Our founder is a mechanical engineer and hands-on innovator with a background in defense aerospace and naval engineering, including the design of aircraft ground support systems and electronic buoy systems for the U.S. Navy. This experience—combined with a lifelong passion for tinkering—drives our ability to solve complex challenges with creative, field-tested solutions.
We actively engage in the SBIR (Small Business Innovation Research) and STTR (Small Business Technology Transfer) programs as critical pathways for bringing new technologies to life. These programs allow us to collaborate closely with government customers while advancing early-stage R&D with real-world applications.
Turrera partners with top academic researchers at Florida International University (FIU), Florida Atlantic University (FAU), and the University of Florida (UF) to expand our scientific depth, access cutting-edge research, and develop dual-use technologies that serve both defense and commercial markets.
Our capabilities include:
-
Rapid Prototyping and Custom Fabrication
CNC machining, additive manufacturing, and system integration to accelerate development and field-readiness. -
Advanced Mechanical and Systems Engineering
Design and testing of ruggedized components, tools, and platforms for use in demanding environments. -
Dual-Use Innovation Strategy
Development of technologies that can transition between military and civilian markets for broader impact and lower lifecycle costs. -
SBIR/STTR Proposal Development and Execution
Experience managing the full lifecycle of government-funded innovation, from topic targeting and proposal writing to Phase I/II execution and commercialization planning. -
University Research Collaboration
Joint development efforts with university labs and principal investigators to ensure strong technical foundations and scalable pathways.
At Turrera, we combine engineering, agility, and partnerships to create forward-thinking solutions that meet today’s mission needs—and anticipate tomorrow’s.
